[What is #OctTBR2022? I explain it here.]
What It Is: A personal account of a pastor whose mother was slowly succumbing to Alzeheimer’s.
Why I’m Reading It: I started following Mike Glenn on Twitter at some point several years back. He would provide comments/quotes from his weekly visits to his mother where they would have coffee. Over time, Glenn shared more and more how his mother was deteriorating, until she finally passed away. His openness and vulnerability about it all was moving, and when I learned that he put that story into a book, I was eager to get my hands on it. Now that I’m getting a bit older, and so are my parents, I’m thinking more and more about what happens when they get to a point one day where they can’t quite care for themselves. This is something every adult child needs to consider, uncomfortable as it is. This seems like a helpful resource for working through those ideas and feelings.
