#OctTBR2022 Day 5: Foxe’s “Voices of the Martyrs”

[What is #OctTBR2022? I explain it here.]

What It Is: An updated version of Foxe’s Book of Martyrs, produced by the ministry Voice of the Martyrs.

Why I’m Reading It: I’ve tried to read Foxe’s a few times and have always gotten bogged down. However, lately I’ve wanted to get back into reading more about church history and how the lives of past believers displayed the power of the Gospel in the face of opposition. Maybe I’m recognizing that, while my current context allows for free practice of my faith, that time may be coming to a close. It’s good to have a reminder of what faithful believers have always done in the face of persecution.

Have you read this book (or Foxe’s original)? If so, what was your favorite account? Let me know in the comments!
